Cloth and thread covered buttons were among the most common buttons found on Men’s clothing in the 18th & early 19th centuries. Occasionally they were found on Lady's gowns & jackets as well. Button molds could be made of wood, horn or bone, such as our Wood Button Molds. Molds are commonly dug at sites, found on the River Thames, and survive on extant garments in collections. Our Wood Button Molds are very thin with a slight dome & a tapered edge as they were in the 18th century.
Our Wood Button Molds are perfect for thread buttons, as well as covered buttons.
