Bone Awl

AWLA-1
Used in tailoring and dressmaking for centuries, the awl (such as our Bone Awl ) is a useful tool for creating eyelet holes by opening the weave of the fabric without cutting. This results in a stronger eyelet able to hold up to continuous strain as evidenced by the many stays we have examined. This tool can also come in handy for pressing linen and making thread Dorset buttons.
- This Bone Awl is a reproduction based on an extant example from our own collection.
- Measures 3 1/2 inches.
