TYPES OF ONLINE EXPERIENCES
Burnley and Trowbridge offers three different types of online workshop experiences via our educational platform. To learn more about what each experience is and what it offers, read below!
Instructor Led Workshops (Fully Synchronous or Blended)
Instructor led workshops are workshops where students will have regular opportunities to interact with the instructor (either synchronously or asynchronously) and the instructor has set the pacing/schedule for the course.
This means there may be portions of the course with homework expectations that should ideally be completed before moving to the next unit. Depending on if the course is fully synchronous or blended may determine how instruction is delivered.
Fully Synchronous Workshops- These are workshops that occur virtually but where students should expect to meet with the instructor in a "live" environment for teaching and question/answers. This is a very common format for lecture or presentation style courses. In this type of course, students are with the instructor in real time for the primary portion of the course. Because of this, we recommend students pay particularly close attention to the date and times of instruction as these lessons are not pre-recorded or available on demand.
Blended Workshops- These are workshops that occur with both synchronous and asynchronous components. The lessons themselves may be pre-recorded with homework and live synchronous check ins throughout the units. Each lesson also includes links to supplemental materials- be it readings, videos, special pointers, or FAQs.
Go at Your Own Pace Workshops
Go at Your Own Pace experiences are a chance to take a B&T workshop but to go at your own pace. With twice the amount of time as an instructor led workshop (6 months total), our “Go at Your Own Pace” workshops give you access to course materials without the instructor led pacing. This means if you have a busy day to day schedule you can take the extra time you need to explore the materials, watch, and rewatch lessons at your leisure without the stress of homework, deadlines, and class meet ups.
These workshop experiences have all of the same great instruction and supplemental materials as our instructor led courses, and include two 1 hour live sessions over the course of the workshop, so that the instructors can answer any questions you have about the materials covered.
Q&A dates are listed in the course description on the B&T Website and in the course outline via the educational platform.
Why are there so many different types of workshops offered?

We realize that there are many different obstacles to learning and that everyone has different schedules and preferences. We also know that not all courses will translate well to a single format of online learning. We consider all of these options before deciding how a course will be offered to students to give students the highest chance of success.
We want as many of you as possible to be able to take our workshops in whichever way is best suited to your circumstances, so we hope we can support you and your learning by making as many of our workshop experiences as accessible as possible.
