JP Ryan Robe a l Anglaise 1760-1785 Pattern
This gown features two styles. The first is the "folded back" gown known sometimes as the English gown or Nightgown. The other is a quartered (i.e. pieced) back, which became popular fashion in the late 1770's-80's. Similar gowns appear in collections of 18th century costumes all over the world, demonstrating the popularity of this style, and its universal acceptance. Made from the simplest wool "stuffs", to fine silk brocade, the differentiation of style came with textile and trim, rather than the cut. The JP Ryan Robe a l Anglaise 1760-1785 Pattern comes one size per pattern.
- This gown can be constructed as a round gown with an "apron front" or as an open robe and separate petticoat.
- Included in each JP Ryan Robe a l Anglaise 1760-1785 Pattern package is a small sleeve flounce pattern, not shown in illustration, plus diagrams with instructions for making a petticoat to be worn over hoops or a false rump.
